![]() Jesus didn’t have any bad reactions, so He didn’t experience envy, sinful passions, or unrighteous of anger. Jesus, while experiencing human emotions, did not allow them to lead Him into sin. Hebrews 4:15 reminds us that when we come to Jesus, we come to a High Priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, for He was in every respect tempted as we are, yet without sin. ![]() Some scholars have recorded up to forty different emotional words concerning Jesus. Scripture tells how Jesus felt numerous times through His life.Īt other times we see Jesus with joy, sorrow, exhaustion, anger, disgust, amazement, compassion, frustration, agony, alone and many more. Some people think God is distant and doesn’t really understand how we feel. This means He experienced a wide range of emotions during His thirty-three years on earth. When Jesus came to earth, He became fully man and fully God. JESUS CARES AND UNDERSTANDS (John 11:33-36) Our job is not to figure out when God will answer but to trust He will answer and do what is best.Ģ. We must learn to trust God and His timing even when they don’t seem right to us. In the difficult and painful moments (and they were really painful for Mary, Martha and Jesus), we must remember that Jesus is never late. How many times have you raised the same? Have you ever had an issue with God’s timing? We easily become worried and scared and start doubting God and His timing. We can read the repetition of these words as they speak with Jesus “If you had only been here …,” That’s helpful to us as we know the end of the passage. Verse 42 ‘for the benefit of the people…that they may believe.’.Verse 4 ‘It is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.’.Why? Doesn’t He care? Is he afraid of the religious leaders in Bethany? Time is vital, yet, Jesus doesn’t just wait for a few hours but two days. Jesus is about a day’s journey away from the home of Lazarus. How would you react if you received news that a loved one was dying? Most likely, you’d drop whatever you were doing to rush and be with them. So, it seems really strange on first reading that when Jesus receives an urgent message, that Lazarus, the ‘one Jesus loved’, is ill, Jesus delays. We know that Jesus loved this family and had a special relationship with them. This is the last of the miracles that Jesus performs in John before facing the cross and His own resurrection. They send an urgent message to Jesus, who is preaching nearby. Mary, Martha, and Lazarus are in Bethany when Lazarus is sick and almost dying. The Bible says that Jesus loved this family. It is surely not impossible for the wealthy to enter heaven (numerous Godly men of the Bible were prosperous), but Scripture is plain that it is very troublesome ( Luke 18:24-25).Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha, and they were among Jesus’ closest friends. "but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful." ( Mark 4:19). Not only do fortunes not get one into heaven, but they have the potential to separate a person from God like few other things. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter” ( James 5:5). However, as the apostle James advised, “You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. Also, he believed the impoverished, like Lazarus, were cursed by God. The rich man incorrectly saw his worldly wealth as proof of God’s love and blessing. Moral of Lazarus and the Rich Man Parable This Bible story is a great and powerful reminder that we will pay for our sins on earth when we finally decease, therefore we should love and care for our fellow mankind. ![]() Abraham told the rich man that if his brothers did not believe in Scripture, neither would they believe Lazarus, even if he came directly from heaven. Pleading to “Father Abraham” in heaven, the rich man asked that Lazarus come down from heaven to cool his tongue with a drop of water to reduce his “agony in this fire.” The rich man additionally requested Abraham to send Lazarus back to earth as a warning to his brothers to atone for their sins, however, both requests were refused. ![]() Lazarus was welcomed into heaven, while the rich man was condemned to hell.
